"People Are Threatening to Kill Me"

After an ardent media blitz, taking aim at Rockstar's "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" and other games, one Miami-based attorney, Jack Thompson, is now calling on two Democratic senators and the FBI to investigate threats against his life, which he says prove video games make people want to murder others.

Further, Thompson is now taking aim at video games journalists everywhere. In a letter to Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Joseph Lieberman (D-CT), the attorney claimed, "None of the "video game media" will report that the gamers are threatening to kill me, although I have asked them to report this phenomenon, as it reveals the validity of the above two points.

"The attorney is no stranger to controversy. According to the encyclopedia Wikipedia, after losing to Janet Reno for the office of Dade County State Attorney in 1988, Thompson claimed the future United States Attorney General was a "closet lesbian suffering from various mental disorders as side effects of Parkinson's medication," and that she was "being blackmailed by the Mafia.

"The attorney is most notorious for his suits on video games publishers, however, claiming that video games were responsible for the Columbine High School massacre and the Washington Sniper, and filing suits against video games publishers after various shootings and deaths in the past. He has also compared Doug Lowenstein of the Entertainment Software Association to Saddam Hussein, Adolf Hitler and Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels in interviews with CBS and Electronic Gaming Monthly.

But after a July 2005 media blitz against publishers for games such as The Sims 2, Gran Theft Auto: San Andreas and killer7 (in which controversy abounded as well - the attorney claimed San Andreas allowed players to rape and kill pregnant women and children, and that the Sims 2 was a "pedophile training tool"), he's now asking the FBI to investigate threats against his life, and is attacking the video games media for a supposed blacklist of his claims.
